Gaming Memories
I'm playing this (Classic 80s Games) at the moment. Yes, in office. While waiting for reports to run (No, dats an excuse. The report is already generated. Hahha)
I realised I suck at Pac-man. Really! I got KO twice within the 1st map and the 2nd map was the furthest i went. Stupid ghosts.
Then I tried Frogger. I nvr knew that I had to land the frogs onto the black area at the last lane until quite a few frogs sacrificed. Yeahh I'm so noob. And to think that I've been whacking the keyboards since... P2? No more like since I was a milk-gurgling toddler. I remember I had a photo. I shall dig that out!
The old DOS kinda display with c:\, dir, blah blah blah kinda commands (I used to be GOOD at these) had all been replaced by the mouse and Windows/Mac/Linux running in trillions of colors. Click click click and u get ur info. There's no internet, no MSN/ICQ, no disturbances. Switch on and u r in the game protecting the world from aliens with minimal sound effects from the PC speaker (not even an external speaker). Diudiu! *shoots gun*
I remembered one of the 1st games I got hooked on was Commander Keen (Already in 64 or 256 color monitors). Cant really remember how the game goes but I remembered jumping here there and killing stuff. Maybe I shld surf the web for downloadable (and playable) versions of that game. Then it was Duke Nukem with his powerful machines guns avoiding laser beams. I recalled there's a game called Zool (or Zoul?). *thinks for a while* Shit! I really shld do a Google on all these. Cant freaking remember.
The very 1st 3d game I actually dared to play was Wolfenstein 3d (I get giddy with these u see). This I remember, walking ard maps, killing soldiers, finding keys, getting the correct keys to fit, open secret doors, blah blah blah. Slowly I upgraded to Doom and getting frightened outta my seats from monsters jumping at ur screen. There's another magician 3d game which I cant recall the name. Anyone can help?
There was a period of time where fighting games were the trend. When I was in P6 I guess. I remembered scratching my BCG while playing 三国志 (that explains the scar. Too engrossed in the game).
Another classic I loved was 金庸群侠传. Spent hrs training the skills and running errands for the characters to get the 武林秘集s. Meeting monsters along the way is strictly by chance. Since its an old RPG game, u cant even see any monsters approaching. They'll switch the screen into combat mode and there u see ur monster. Have to collect all the books that 金庸 wrote and solo the 10 good/bad (depends on the things that u did, helping ppl or stealing from empty huts) characters. I actually played it more than once (& wanted to play it again recently but the game is already obsolete on my pc, cant run).
While others are mugging for their Os, I was at home putting more hrs with my 小鱼儿 than on my books. The 3rd ep of the series cheated my $$. Couldnt play it due to some unknown error which came out in symbols that I cant decipher. Hello, my brain processing language is in words, not symbols.
As my computers were upgraded, I spent $$ on more demanding games. I played 风云 for a while, with slightly lagging speed when a super power skill is used. I even had the original NBA for quite a few yrs running. That was the Steve Kerr/Bulls to Steve Kerr/Spurs era. No more Steve Kerr now, no more crazily continuous 3 pointers (Ya I know there's Reggie, Brent, etc etc, but Kerr is easier to control!).
I almost forgot all abt The Sims. I love the building house part, decorating the interior (uses cheat code most often than not), planning the tasks for the Sim, finding job for them, etc etc. But I jus cant get them to be very satisfied or watever. Now the new Sims, THEY DIE!! [-_-"] I've stopped playing them, very complex now. Can go town and chiong and still have to balance ur needs and $$.
My desktop had been dismantled now. All left was the keyboard and mouse with the monitor in my bro's room (I dunno WTF he needs 2 monitors on 1 cpu for), the cpu with the comp outside, RAM here, HDD there, EVERYWHERE.
Gaming on my T42-KA4. I got bored of NBA 2005 after Parker/Bowen/Ginobili stealing like crazy and running lightning speed fast breaks. I tried the expert mode(or watever u call that version). Same thing, just that the opponents lost marginally and not suffering from a thrashing. Hooked on MapleStory for like dunno how many mths/yrs. Stupid bandit lvl so slow. Maybe I shld try playing it Commander Keen style, no other players, no disturbances. Treat them INVISIBLE! Ahhahahha.
SHIT I HAVE A CRAVING FOR COMMANDER KEEN NOW!!~~
